Snowshoe hike on Kvaløya - arriving with your own car
On arrival, we learn how to use the snowshoes and start the hike up the mountain. This is one of the smaller summits of the area but you will get great views over the surrounding mountains and fiords. We stop a few times during the walk for rest and photos. We also share our knowledge about our region and the Arctic environment we live in. At the summit we take a longer break and you will be served a hot drink and lefse (local sweet snack).
The hike climbs about 400m to the summit in snowy terrain. You need to be healthy and moderately fit. This tour is not recommended for those with a heart condition or limited physical abilities.
As the weather can change rapidly in Northern Norway to join this tour it is obligatory to wear warm and windproof clothes and winter boots above ankle. Winter clothes and boots are not included in the price of the tour but, can be rented separately at our rental center upon prior arrangement.
From mid-February onward the sun can be surprisingly strong, especially because of the reflecting snow, so we recommend you also bring sunglasses and sun cream with you.
