It is a pleasure every day to send our many guests into the wonderful scenery we have here in the Tromsø area.
You will usually find me in the office at Sjøgata 14, but sometimes I'm lucky to be allowed to guide some trips and activities. I live on top of Tromsøya, and thrive both in and outside the paths in open-air areas surounding my house.
When I'm not at work I spend a lot of time with my wife on trips in the majestic mountains around Tromsø, organizing my stamp collection, in addition to attending meetings, and as a leader on child and youth activities in my church.
Hi! It is me who takes care of big part of administration work behind Tromsø Outdoor.
Sometimes I reply your e-mails regarding reservations, activities, skiing, cycling, weather and everything else that is important for you!
I used to get the change to guide some of our hikes and snowshoe trips or to help you with planning your activities in our rental center. These days I spend time taking care of our work planning, website, social media, booking system, accounting, hiring, meetings and work on local projects. My best skill is maintaining everything at the same time and keeping over 550 products Tromsø Outdoor has in offer under control ;)
I had a long journey to get to Tromsø – from Poland, to Australia, then to Western Norway, and finally here. Having that and many other travels in my heart – I find Tromsø one of the best places in the world to visit and live in. I enjoy sharing my love of this beautiful region with all the people who come to visit us. I started guiding when I was nineteen years old and now at Tromsø Outdoor in 2014 I have made it part of my work and every day life!
My free time is filled with friends, dancing, cycling, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, photography, books, travels and learning Norwegian.
Hi, my name is Sascha and I have been working at Tromsø Outdoor since 2014 year.
In winter I mainly guide the snowshoe and cross-country skiing-trips. Sometimes you can also find me in the rental center and there I will help you with any of your requests. I have also main responsibility for training all Tromsø Outdoor guides and ensuring that all tours are conducted in safe manner at all the times.
I love being outdoors in the winter, to be active, lighting up a fire and relaxing. In summer I fill my time with hiking, whitewater-kayaking, canoing, and fishing. For many years I worked in the summer as a kayak guide in Sweeden and Germany.
For me its a great pleasure to talk about the wildlife and nature of Northern Norway and show you our way of life here in the Arctic!
See you soon in the beautiful area of Troms!
Hi, I am a Swedish mountain and outdoor guide who has been living in Tromsø with my girlfriend for several years now. I begun my carreer as a guide in 2009 after I completed my education as a mountain guide, ski instructor, and for avalanche rescue training organized by the Swedish Mountain Safety Council.
I moved up north to Tromsø because of the mountains and the sea. Here I worked four years as a northern light guide to eventually go back to what I love the most - outdoor activities and skiing. working at Tromsø Outdoor since 2015.
I am always on the move! I love climbing, skiing, and freediving the most, but during the summertime I also do a lot of bike-touring and travelling.
My passions are my work - guiding people out in nature is for me a dream come true!
Hi there! I'm Sylwia and you will find me at the Tromsø Outdoor activity and rental center at Sjøgata 14 every day, both in the summer and in the winter.
I will be happy to welcome you here, help you to find the right equipment for your personal Tromsø adventure, and to provide you with all sorts of information. It might also be that I take you on a snowshoe trip through the snowy forest area on top of the island since I work as a guide as well.
I moved to Tromsø in 2010 and have been working as a city guide for several years now. I very much enjoy the many faces of Tromsø: its breathtaking nature, exciting history, and multicultural society - I am happy to have found my home here! I spent much of my time with long walks through nature in each of our beautiful seasons but I also enjoy hiking, snowboarding, cycling and kayaking whenever I get the opportunity. My adventure with Tromsø Outdoor has begun in 2016.
Since I love travelling, exploring new places, and getting to know different people and their culture, I very much enjoy helping our visitors so that they too can have a wonderful Tromsø experience.
I came to Tromsø for the first time several years ago as an exchange student. I was immediately overwhelmed by the unlimited opportunities for outdoor activities so close to home. It is then that began to work as a guide and I returned to Tromsø every year to guide during the summer season.
My greatest passions are hiking, sea-kayaking, snowshoeing, and wildlife watching, and I eventually took the decision to move to Tromsø for good three years ago. There is probably no place in the world where I can follow these passions so easily in my everyday life!
I am working as a guide for Tromsø Outdoor since 2016, as this work gives me the chance to enjoy the northern Norwegian nature as much as possible. At the same time, this offers me the opportunity to have enriching conversations with people from all over the world who share my love of this amazing destination!
Hey there!
I am Mauricio, a young person from the centre of Spain, more precisely from a small city called Soria.
Mountains have always been my passion and I feel attracted to them. In June 2018 I achieved my university degree in tourism, in the English language, that I studied for three years in Madrid and for one year in Finland.
It is there in the Northern Finland, where I got to know and experience the northern European way of living. This has given me many work opportunities in different sub-sectors of the tourism and I get to discover what I really like and enjoy, which is guiding.
In the mountains, I have always been doing different sports since I was a little one. Nowadays I spend my time running, skiing, climbing or snowshoeing.
Although, I am always looking forward to getting to know other means to move around them. Also, I have work experience in the rivers kayaking.
Another big hobby of mine is travelling and speaking foreign languages, as I believe is a great way to put in perspective the way we do things.
Guiding has always been a passion; get to interact with other people that might have the same interest than me. I will be very happy to share my knowledge with the people around me in Tromso.
I look forward to meeting you on a tour or at the Tromso Outdoor rental centre!
My name is Petra, I am coming from Slovakia.
I moved to Norway in February 2018 and I am enjoying my life in Tromsø, in the middle of the arctic nature.
I am trying to connect my job with activities I like to do in my spare time-skiing, hiking so I will work in my first winter season in Tromsø Outdoor as shop assistant and will strive to help all people visiting Tromsø to have beautiful holiday.
I grew up in Estonia, where I participated in winter sports from an early age. I started as a cross country skier as a young child, competed in cross country skiing races and later used my experience as a ski instructor for many years while studying at university.
In 2016, I moved to Norway to pursue a Master's degree in health science. It was here that I found a passion for ski mountaineering and touring.
When I am not skiing, you can find me in the workshop making sure that the skis and gear are in excellent condition and performing at their best.
I enjoy my job, as it is truly rewarding - you get to meet new people, watch them improve and help them reach their goals and enhance their experiences.
As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I like to spend my free time in the mountains: skiing, running or going on climbing trips my girlfriend ...and every once in a while capture some of those memorable moments on my camera.
Lena Dahl is our IFMGA/UIAGM/IVBV mountain guide who offers guided ski touring trips in the
mountains of Tromsø. She has been working as a mountain guide since 2003. She qualified as an
international certified IFMGA mountain guide in 2014. Her motto is 'safety first'. With her local
knowledge about the snow and avalanche danger, she will give you a safe and unforgettable
adventure in the snowy landscapes of Kvaløya or Ramfjorden, just a short drive outside Tromsø. She
knows how to choose a mountain that fits the group’s expectations and ski level.
I never miss a chance to enjoy a special place.
By instinct, background and training I am a tree climber and a woodland enthusiast. Since I was a child I used to roam the woods to look for special places among the tree clusters, I never miss a chance to enjoy a special place. Climbing trees makes for wonderful viewpoints and I cultivate trees and pick mushrooms for part of the year, olive trees actually provide the fuel I run on the whole year long. In addition there is a lot to learn from pruning and trimming, the resilience of trees is in many ways revelatory. Now, wintertime is not exactly the most entertaining season to climb trees, quite the opposite, especially around freezing point, which is why in winter I mostly frequent mountain tops. Together with trees mountains are a great way to elevate oneself, even more so in a special place like Tromsø.
Hei! I'm an outdoor enthusiast from Ireland. I am an avid mountaineer and love to hike, camp, climb, skydive, and ski in my spare time, and have lots of experience with navigation, survival, kayaking, parachuting and climbing and rope work. My travels have brought me to many wonderful places such as the Rockies and Alps, but there is definitely something unique about Tromsø that draws me here, with it's steep mountains jutting out from beautiful fjords, and the northern lights overhead.
You will most likely find me at the rental centre where I hope to help you make unforgettable memories in the beautiful and rugged nature that Troms has to offer :) Occasionally you might also find me guiding a tour which gives me the chance to share these experiences with you and personally show what makes Tromsø amazing!
I will be working at Tromsø Outdoor every Friday to gain experience on how working with tourism really is. I study traveling/tourism at Breivang VGS High School.
I will be helping out in the store, as well as helping out the guides on trips. I enjoy being outdoors the most, especially going out in the nature.
I really enjoy hiking with my dog, snowboarding, snowmobiling and of course playing football (which is my biggest passion). When I am done with my education, I’d really like to start my own business in the tourism industry. I am turning 18 in March.
Hi, I’m Sergio from USA. I moved to Tromsø in 2018 after working for four winters as a ski instructor in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I came to the great north to study my master’s degree in peace and conflict transformation. In addition to my love for powder skiing, I am also an avid bike tourist, having cycled through the western US, Cuba, and across Europe from Portugal to Croatia. I’m very stoked to be part of the Tromsø Outdoor team and look forward to sharing the Arctic adventure lifestyle with others.
My name is Bastien and I’m from France. I would define myself as an adventurous geek. What does this mean, you might ask?... Good question!
It means that, as well as enjoying spending time on my computer with an interest for new technology, I’m courageous enough to get outside and discover the world. I love travelling (I try to do as much as possible), hiking and skiing. I studied geology and I’m interested in everything that has to do with space.
I spent the last three years guiding on glaciers and driving tourists around Iceland. But for this winter, I decided to begin a new adventure in Norway, where I’m gonna work in the rental shop.
Hi, my name is Ester and I am from Czech Republic. I am really excited about joining the Tromsø Outdoor team this winter.
Mountains have always been the place where I feel most free and happy. It all began when I was 5 years old and I got my very first skis for Christmas. Every winter since then, I have spent as much time as possible in the mountains. Later, I joined the Scout Association and I have developed a new addiction - hiking - which allows me to dedicate my summers to the mountains too!
Later on, I started working in my home country as a guide. I was guiding cross-country skiing expeditions in winter and on hiking trips in the summer,
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tromsø - on either a cross-country ski or snowshoe tour as well as in the rental centre!
"Born and raised in the mountains of Slovakia, Tomas spent the last seven years living and working in different places around the globe. From the hot plains of southern India through the vast mountains of western Canada, to the Southern Alps of New Zealand, the Japanese island of Hokkaido, the Austrian Alps, arctic Finland and the "middle kingdom" of China. Working as an instructor for skiing, rafting, canyoning and as an outdoor guide he tries to explore the beautiful places our planet has to offer and share the passion and knowledge with the guests.
He loves all things related to skiing and mountains, music (listening and long conversations about it), the country of Nepal and food (both cooking and eating)."
I grew up at the Varangerfjord in east Finnmark, and have lived in Tromsø since 1992. My education and background are police and military, which has taught me to carry out outdoor assignments in difficult weather and harsh situations. From childhood I have been doing outdoor activities summer and winter, whatever the weather. My passion is planning and conducting trips where it is just me, my wife, nature and the weather. Moving from flat Varanger to Tromsø made me very familiar with mountains, especially around Tromsø.
I would describe myself as an all-rounder. I have practiced swimming, orienteering, military sports, snowshoeing, XC-skiing, back country skiing, ski mountaineering, hiking and backpacking. Further fishing in mountain lakes, streams and rivers, and winter fishing on ice, as well as hunting. I also did summer and winter biking for a few years. I like to prepare and maintain my skis, bikes and equipment myself.
I am also interested in good meals, culture and sports. That is why Tromsø is a fantastic city to live in. We have a very good selection of local food, culture as a music and film festival, and of course the mountains and the sea right outside the door.
I look forward to help in promoting Northern Norway and Tromsø in particular through Tromsø Outdoor.
Hello! My name is Ewa and this is my first season working at Tromsø Outdoor. I am super excited for the winter in this stunning part of the world. Most of the time you will be able to meet me in the rental center, but from time to time I will also be out, guiding snowshoe tours.
I have worked in many places around the globe, starting from Poland, through the USA, Spain, Greece, Montenegro as well as Kenya and Tanzania, but when I came to Norway, I felt that this is the place I want to call my home.
When I am not working, I enjoy traveling, hanging out with friends, going to rock concerts, diving, walking in the mountains and cycling. I love trying new things, engaging in various activities and learning new skills. And if I need to relax, I light up some candles, make a cup of hot chocolate and sit down to read a book.
Hi everyone,
I am Elena, a half-German, half-Italian (as you can see). I have always worked in tourism since I started in our family restaurant on the Ligurian Riviera, close to the Cote d'Azur. After that, I decided to embark on working for an Italian cruise line for many years. During my time aboard, I was a hostess: my duties consisted of taking care of the passengers, doing conferences about the ports of call and escorting them during the tours. During this time, I gained a really strong passion for travelling. I have since been living in Spain, Germany and England and have been travelling all over Europe and Asia.
But my favourite place of all is NORWAY... the country of peace, love, nature and "hygge" - the art of focussing on the simple things that make us feel happy.
This is why I have been working as a guide in Tromso and Lofoten for 2 years.
¡Hi everyone!
I'm Ignacio from Argentina and I fell in love with mountains and nature in a little town in the
Andes called Malargüe. This is my first time in Norway and I’m so excited to be here in the Artic in
Tromsø. I’m an adventure lover so I try to live my life in that way, traveling and following my
passions such as snowboarding, hiking, skiing, cycling, wild camping, rock climbing or just enjoying
being in the wild as my way to keep my inner child happy. I started travelling and living this way in
2016 and I have been the happiest version of myself ever since. I think working at Tromsø Outdoor
is the perfect place to be surrounded by people that truly enjoy and share the same passion for
mountains, winter activities and life in general.
I have loved fixing things and working with my hands ever since I was a child. When I was young, my
favourite game was fixing my toys, and sometimes I was even successful... I grew up to become a
mechanical engineer and I moved on to fixing “bigger toys”.
I will see you in the rental centre: this season I'll be fixing your gear at the shop and you’re also going to
see me at the front desk where I will help you to find the right equipment for your needs and make sure you
have a great vacation.
