Tromsø Outdoor terms and conditions, reservations, activities and rentals


Winter Hours (November – end of April)

If you arrive before or after our store hours, we can deliver and/or collect equipment from the hotels located in the city center (a fee of 100 NOK or 350 NoK for each collection and each delivery applies).

Occasionally rental center can be opened outside normal store hours (a fee of NOK 400). That need to be arranged separately.



All prices are stated in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Prices for equipment rental cover the rental of the equipment only, collection and return to our depot at Tromsø Outdoor Activity and Rental Center on Sjøgata 14, Tromsø. Costs incurred with transportation of equipment to another site are not included in the rental price, and are to be paid as arranged.

Costs of damages or lost equipment will be added to the costs of rental in case rentals got lost or damaged.



We require at least two participants on each tour, if there is only one person booked on the activity on particular day or hour we may have to cancell the tour. In that case we offer place on alternative activity, same activity on different day, or full refund of the tour costs. 

Our activities are weatcher dependent.  In case we need to cancell activity due to the weather conditions (eg. lack of snow) we will offer you place on an alternative activity or full reund of the tour costs.

Please give information about allergy, or special needs upon booking.

We provide equipment needed for the activity, included in the price of the trip, but not the clothes. Remember to bring warm wind and waterproof clothes and boots, and also hat, mittens/gloves on all our tours. You can rent clothes with us, but that need to be arranged separately in good time before the tour starts.

You need to meet at start point latest 10 minutes before departure.

We have insurance that covers accidents that may happent to all guest at our activities. Make sure that you follow the guide`s instruction, otherwise insurance will not cover your injuries or damages.



You can change the date of the activity up to 30 days due to the activity date without any charges. If you would like to change the date of the activity later, that will be only possible if we will have places available and will be confirmed in the afternoon the day before the new preferred activity date after 4pm.



  1. The rental period applies for the dates stipulated in booking.

  2. The rental period for equipment is based on days (1 day is any time up to 24 hours).

  3. Full payment of the rental costs is required upon booking. 
    We provide you with an opportunity to pay on line using Visa or Master Card. We use secure PayEx transactions. 
    If the terms
     of payment are not followed as outlined, the reservation is deemed to be cancelled within 2 days.

  4. If you return rentals before the day indicated on booking, you will not receive refund of the rental costs.

  5. If you wish to return rentals later than you indicated on reservation you need to contact us in advance and check if equipment is available. If we confirm the date change you need to issue the rental fees for the additional days according to our regular pricelist when you return the rentals (you only pay the difference in the rental costs from the days you used the equipment and the days you had book it for).

  6. Tromsø Outdoor cannot guarantee you will be able to extend the rental period, yet we do our best to always heve equipment available in the rental centre and in 99% of cases it is no problem. Please contact us if in doubts and we can provide you information about current reservations.

  7. Tromsø Oudoor always aim to provide you with the sport equipment and clothes ideal for you, so you can always change the size of the clothes or booked sport equipment when you arrive, as long as we have other sizes available for rent. Tromsø Outdoor cannot guarantee equipment in different size than ordered will be available.

  8. Consumer goods such as paraffin, white spirit, wood etc. are not included in the hire price and are charged based on consumption or need to be purchased separately (eg. gas cartridges)

  9. The rental and all use of the equipment is at the client’s own risk, and the client bears full responsibility for any loss or damage which arises during the rental period. The client is also responsible for any other person who he/she allows to use the equipment. Tromsø Outdoor assumes no financial responsibility for loss or injury to people, property, business affairs or the like which arises through use of the rented equipment. 

  10. Any problems with the equipment functionality must be immediately reported to Tromsø Outdoor by e-mail or on the phone.

  11. Upon rental of equipment  2000 NoK deposit is required. Check your booking confirmation for details. If equipment is returned in the same condition as it was rented out, deposit will be returned on the spot (if payed cash) or within few business days to the customers credit cards.



1. Tromsø Outdoor is not responsible for the punctures made on the wheels during the rental period and for inappropriate changing of the tube resulting in next punctures. Customers are responsible for changing the tube or repairing punctured tube on their own. One spare tube and some patches are included in the rental rate.

2. Tromsø Outdoor is not responsible for the problems with the bikes and other equipment resulting from inappropriate use of the bike or it's elements (eg. overloading, adjusting the bike changers or breaks by the customers etc.). Cost of the bike service or assistance in such cases must be covered by the customer.

3. Any problems with the bikesfunctionality must be immediately reported to Tromsø Outdoor by e-mail or on the phone.

4. Tromsø Outdoor is committed to provide all necessary support and assistance during your journey and we are available under the phone 24/7 if you need our assistance.

5. Tromsø Outdoor highly recommend bringing the bikes indoors overnight to prevent bike robbery and never leaving bikes unattended without locking them up.



Tromsø Oudoor DOES NOT OFFER insurance on the rented equipment and for it's users. Renters are liable for the loss, theft or damage of the equipment and must cover the cost of repairs or replacing it from their own travel insurance or pocket, up to the price of new equipment of the same type and brand. Possible charges need to be issued on the spot. Costs of repairs we consult with service points and consider in each case individually. 



The following cancellation fees apply:

Cancellations received within 1 hour after making reservation or more than 60 days prior to the date of rental or activity: no charge

31 - 59 days prior to the date of activity or rental: 25% of the total activity or rental price

8 - 30 days prior to the date of activity or rental: 50% of the total activity or rental price

Less than 8 days prior to the date of activity or rental: 100% of the total activity or rental price.


Any cancellations shall be provided in written form (by e-mail to and apply from the date Tromsø Outdoor has received written notification of the cancellation.



All prices are subject to change as a result of any amendments to VAT and other relevant taxes and fees.

Above terms and conditions are applicable from 15.06.2015.
